What is CBD Used For?

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a naturally-occurring compound found in the cannabis plant. CBD oil, the product we’re talking about today, is made from hemp extract and contains less than 0.3% THC (the psychoactive element of marijuana). While there are lots of uses for CBD oil—it has been known to help with everything from acne to cancer—we thought we’d focus on five specific ones here:
Section: Chronic pain relief
Section: Anxiety relief
Section: Help people get a better night's sleep
Section: Help with seizures and epilepsy
CBD can be used for pain, including chronic pain.
CBD can be used for pain, including chronic pain.
CBD is not a cure-all, but it can be an effective tool in the fight against chronic pain and other symptoms associated with various health conditions. CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which regulates homeostasis in the body through receptors found throughout the nervous system and immune system. By interacting with these receptors, CBD is able to influence how our bodies react to stressors and stimuli like inflammation or injury. For example: when you stub your toe, there's a reaction from both your brain and body that leads to a sharp burst of pain—but if you've taken CBD beforehand (either by smoking it or applying it topically), that reaction happens much more slowly than usual because of its effect on those ECS receptors. Because cannabis contains both THC and CBD—and because THC activates some of those same receptors—cannabis has also been found effective for treating anxiety disorders stemming from chronic pain as well as depression related to social isolation caused by an inability to work due to illness.[2]
CBD is often used for anxiety relief.
CBD is often used for anxiety relief. CBD has been found to be effective in the treatment of numerous disorders, including anxiety and stress. Many people use CBD for sleep problems as well as other issues such as depression, mood swings, stress, and pain management. In addition to these benefits, CBD may also help with inflammation or other conditions such as epilepsy (disorder involving abnormal electrical activity in the brain).
CBD is used for sleep.
CBD is used for sleep. The National Sleep Foundation reports that more than 70 million Americans experience some type of sleep disorder, and the most common complaints include difficulty falling asleep, waking up too early, restless legs syndrome and snoring. CBD can help with all of these conditions.
CBD can help you get a good night's sleep by relaxing your body and mind so that you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. The cannabinoids in CBD interact with receptors throughout the endocannabinoid system (ECS) in your brain and body to promote relaxation when consumed at night before bedtime or during an anxiety attack before bedtime if necessary.
CBD may also be effective at reducing insomnia due to its anti-inflammatory properties—it reduces pain caused by inflammation which often leads to fatigue or difficulty sleeping because it keeps you awake if you're lying down while feeling uncomfortable due to this pain or inflammation (e.g., arthritis).
CBD is a natural anti-inflammatory.
The natural anti-inflammatory properties of CBD are extremely useful for many people, especially those who suffer from chronic pain or inflammation. Whether you have arthritis, muscle pain, joint pain or inflammation in the body, you can benefit from using CBD oil to ease your discomfort.
The most common symptoms of inflammation include:
-
Swelling and redness of the skin tissue
-
Puffy eyes and face (edema)
-
Upset stomach (gastritis)
-
Bloating in the abdomen area
People use CBD to treat seizures and epilepsy.
CBD oil is a non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis plants. CBD can help treat seizures, epilepsy, and other neurological disorders. It can also help with mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. Some people use it for chronic pain, sleep problems, and inflammation.
CBD is also good for your skin and hair.
CBD is also good for your skin and hair. It contains anti-inflammatory properties, which are great if you suffer from a condition like eczema or psoriasis. This means that the oil will be able to help reduce any redness, itching and swelling that is often associated with these conditions. If you have dandruff or an itchy scalp then CBD can help too as it works to treat these symptoms by reducing inflammation in the scalp as well as dryness and irritation.
The oils work well on all types of hair too – whether it’s fine, thick or curly (or even straight!). A lot of people find that their hair grows faster when using the oil after just one use!
The potential uses for CBD are only beginning to be explored. While there is still much research to be done, preliminary studies have shown CBD produces positive effects in patients with a variety of medical conditions and symptoms. From anxiety, depression, or trouble sleeping to aches and pains caused by arthritis, muscle spasms from multiple sclerosis (MS), nausea associated with chemotherapy treatments for cancer, or even seizures brought on by epilepsy, CBD may help treat many different health issues. More animal studies are currently being conducted with promising results.
